How Air Force Services works
Almost all Services programs, except for active-duty
dining facilities, are used by authorized individuals
who contribute to the Air Force mission. Active-duty
personnel and their families, Guard and Reserve personnel,
Air Force civilian employees and all categories of
retired personnel use our programs and activities.
Who pays the Services bills?
Generally, all Services programs are funded by a combination
of taxpayer and troop dollars. Mission-essential programs
like food service, troop support and mortuary services
are funded entirely by Congressional appropriations
through the Air force budget. Other Services programs
generate some or all of their own revenue to support
organizational costs. Recreation facilities, clubs,
restaurants, retail stores, golf courses and similar
operations pay for their expenses by charging users
a nominal fee.
A valuable resource; An indispensable partner
Services stands proudly side by side with Air force
men and women, whenever and wherever needed. Through
the years, services has proven to be an indispensable
partner in creating a successful, positive and thriving
military family community, at home and around the
world.
Supporting military readiness and capability
Our troops in worldwide combat need Services support,
as well. Field commanders rely on Servides to provide
combat support and quality-of-life programs because
we’re the people who do it best. Whether it’s
feeding troops, setting up and managing tent cities,
operating field exchanges, attending to fallen comrades,
providing fitness activities and off-duty sports programs,
or channeling thousands of items donated by American
citizens to front lien troops, Services is at your
command 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We’re
there because we’re needed.
We’re needed at home, too. Services provides
community support to families of deployed troops by
delivering quality-of-life programs foal l Air force
personnel and their families. By doing so, we improve
morale, productivity and personnel retention.
