Aero Club
The Eglin Aero Club offers an FAA/VA approved part
141 certified flight school with the following certificates
and ratings: private pilot, commercial, instrument,
flight instructor, multi-engine and air transport
pilot. For those individuals who already hold a private
pilot’s certificate and want advanced training,
the Department of Veteran’s Affairs may pay
up to 60% of the cost for students who are VA eligible.
A pinch-hitter course is available for those that
regularly fly as passengers and would like to learn
enough about flying to take over in the event the
pilot was incapacitated. Orientation flights are available
for those that are unsure if they want a private pilot’s
license and would like to fly with an instructor to
determine if flying is right for them.
As one of the largest Aero Clubs in the Air Force,
the club boasts approximately 250 members, an excellent
safety record, and a large fleet of well maintained
and diverse aircraft, and a professional and courteous
staff . Eligibility to join extends to active duty
military, retirees, family members, civilian personnel,
base contractors, and Civil Air Patrol members.
For interested persons, the Aero Club Open is located
in Building 898 next to the eastern most portion of
the flight line. Visit the club at any time for information
on classes, rentals, to arrange for that initial orientation
flight (individuals eligible for membership), or just
to say hi.
